As part of completing the AP Exam, you will be asked to write an Artist Statement about your work. Too often, students wait until the last minute to get this accomplished and they are always sorry they did not take notes throughout the year as they were formulating ideas. In your sketchbook, write about each piece you are creating--it can be just a few words or it can be more but try and dig into the way you came up with the piece you are working on. Artist's often say their work should speak for itself but it is important to give the viewer an insight into your thought processes and your actual work process. Below are the exact questions you will be asked to answer in the AP portfolio:
1. What is the central idea of your concentration? (Description) 2. How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You should refer to specific artworks as examples. (Reflection)
Your Artist Statements will be required to be finished by the end year AP Art Show. They will be printed out and displayed next to your work.
